Both Nini and Katie studied Veterinary Nursing and Bio Veterinary Science at Bristol University and are super excited to start their new lives at Cave.
Our year-long programme is open to any nurse 0-12 months post registration. You will rotate around three core areas for a total of three months per area (Wards, Theatre and Diagnostics). You then have the choice of an optional rotation. Examples of optional rotations include soft tissue, orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine and dentistry but will vary depending on the centre.
In addition to the clinical experience and training they receive they also attend five professional development days which will cover:
- Understanding team dynamics
- Communication training
- Clinical Skills, such as CPR
- Quality Improvement Skills
- Human Factors and Patient Safety
- Support in creating CPD and training activities
- Career progression
- Professional resilience
By the end of the programme, we hope to have supported our newly qualified nurses to become fully fledged members of the referral team who are confident in their ability to perform all aspects of referral nursing, who are able to contribute to QI initiatives, support the delivery of CPD and training activities and support other new nurses joining the business.
